The Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) School of Dentistry is Tanzania’s only public university for health sciences. In 2008, MUHAS and MCW developed a partnership in order to improve oral health care across the country. The first phase of the project involved upgrading the schools’ facilities with in-kind equipment donations and technical expertise from dental industry leaders, valued at approximately USD $2 million. The upgrade will enhance the school’s ability to attract and train students and faculty with state-of-the-art equipment and to treat patients.
The Dental School’s relationship with MCW will also involve sending faculty and students to perform their rotation at MCW’s Liana Cohen Dental Clinic in rural Songea to further their training.
