MIRACLE CORNERS SIERRA LEONE (MCSL)

KONO COMMUNITY CENTER

Above: Villagers on the site of MCW's Kono community center.

This community center was built in the village of Sukudu

in the Kono district, located in the Eastern Province of Sierra Leone

approximately 160 miles from the capital city of Freetown.

In March 2009, Sierra Leone Vice President Samuel Sam Sumana invited

MCW to build a youth center in the Kono district during a speech he

delivered at MCW’s annual gala dinner. Paramount Chief Saquee V of

Koidu Town, capital city of the Eastern Province, presented MCW with ten

acres of donated land on which to build the center, and will serve youth

in several surrounding villages.

In July of 2011, the center purchased an additional piece of land and began constructing one if their first income-generating projects: a bakery.  Click here to learn more.
