MCW ALUMNI VENTURES FUND

What is the MCW Alumni Ventures Fund? The MCW Alumni Ventures Fund offers graduates of the MCW Youth Leadership Retreat program an opportunity to turn their vision plans into community programs with a start up grant and year of mentorship. AVF grants are for individuals who are just getting started on their program or who want to advance a current one.

What is a vision plan? A vision plan identifies a challenge in the community and an action plan to address that challenge. For example, a former participant in MCW's Youth Leadership Retreat developed a plan to establish a cultural center that promotes co-existence among Middle Eastern youth. Another participant organized a full-day multi-media event in Harlem that raised awareness of the Lukumi culture and community.

Who is eligible? Graduates of the MCW Youth Leadership Retreat program.

How much? Up to $5,000 and a year of mentoring.

How many does MCW give? Up to 5 grants each year.

Steps to apply:

1. Download the application form and fill it out.  (Application located in the top right side-bar.

2. Prepare your resume with your education and employment/volunteer experience.

3. Write about vision plan.

4. Explain how you will publicize your initiative.

5. Prepare a budget explaining how the funding will be used.

6. Ask a non-family member to prepare a letter of recommendation.

7. Add any other information that you think will help your application, such as your website link, pictures of your vision plan and a short video.
